So today is March 21st, 2013. We have been here for 10 weeks and 2 days. I can't quite believe it. Pandora has gone home (as most of you know) and we are trying to get back into routine (not easy, we really miss her) but we have a lot to do.
I've been fighting the flu (of all sorts) and am finally starting to feel a bit better today, albeit a bit weak. The temperature outside is really heating up, its about 28 today, and very humid. We can't hardly be in our flat without the a/c on now :)
We both have the right amount of work now, and are enjoying things like going to the pool on hot days where we have a few hours together. English club is going well, there were 20 again last week!
We have been discovering places we really enjoy being here, both very local and also some with a slight taste of home. We went to the Metropole with Pandora for Afternoon Tea- it was like what I imagine going to the Ritz or the Savoy would be like, except much cheaper. It was a beautiful spread, and such a lovely environment. I love being able to dip into that world and then also eat dinner sitting on a tiny plastic chair on the streets. I do love Vietnamese food, but I won't lie that it is really nice to know that we can get a not-too-extortionate taste of home as well when we need it. I do feel spoiled.

Dear Hot People
ReplyDeletePlease let go of the heat so it can come to Britain. So cold here. Farmers are having to dig sheep out of snow drifts. It has been worse than winter.
So love the pictures and comments on them. They really give us a small flavour of the very foreign world of Vietnam. If it was not for our French house and all that is involved we would have loved to come over with you as local guides. Still if it is going to be a yearly trip for you we could always allways join you another year. But then you are going to join us in France for a break once we are set up. Krisia has bought a Smeg range cooker with six burners a warming plate and three ovens! So should be ok for food. She has also started a Bee keeping course so we can keep bees a Rochefort.
